Your path toward empowerment

Despite the relatively recent destigmatization of therapy, it still takes a great deal of bravery and determination to reach out to a psychotherapist or counsellor, and many individuals still wait until everything is falling apart before they take that first step.

Finding the right practitioner is the key to successful therapy. It is vital to choose someone with whom you can build up a good rapport, a psychotherapist/counsellor who is trustworthy, warm, and empathetic. When you arrange a consultation with me , if we are not a good match I will help you find another through my network of peers

What is Counselling/ Psychotherapy?

Counselling Psychologists work with the individual’s unique subjective psychological experience to empower our client’s recovery and alleviate distress. (BPS)

Counselling is a form of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe and confidential setting.

Talking therapies can be referred to by many names, often used interchangeably, including counselling (counseling), psychotherapy, therapy, psychology, or by a specific type of therapy such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Humanistic therapy or Psychodynamic therapy.

Counselling/psychotherapists work collaboratively with people, to treat a wide range of issues, including helping people manage difficult life events (such as bereavement), past and present relationships and helping people with mental health issues and disorders. Counselling psychotherapists examine a person’s experience and explore underlying issues. They use an active, collaborative relationship with individuals to empower people to change a certain behaviour, and use a holistic stance, which involves examining the issues a person is facing, within the wider context of what has given rise to them. As an an Integrative psychotherapist, I combine different therapeutic tools and approaches to fit the needs of the individual client.  Integrative psychotherapists consider the individual characteristics, preferences, needs, physical abilities, spiritual beliefs, and motivation level of their clients and use their professional judgment to decide the best approach to therapy for each client. Different approaches may be used consecutively throughout different stages of the therapeutic process or they may be used as a single combined form of therapy throughout.
